Red Lentil Dahl

Our Red Lentil Dahl is a huge hit with the locals. Not only is it dairy-free, but it’s also incredibly aromatic and delicious. Made with the best organic curry we can find, we use healthy red lentils as a base. Try this one over rice with cilantro and some fresh, chopped spinach.

Grilled Vegetables with Red Lentil Dahl

Toss sliced onions, zucchini, acorn squash, eggplant, asparagus or your favorite veggies in olive oil, salt and pepper. Grill to perfection and top with heated Red Lentil Dahl. If you don’t want to brave the cold weather to grill, roast the vegetables in a 400 degree oven for approximately 20 minutes turning once half way through. For an extra layer of flavor, add a little spicy chutney when tossing the veggies in olive oil. Pair with beer!

Red Lentil Dahl Stir Fry

Begin by selecting your favorite protein (tofu, chicken, shrimp or beef) and then stir fry with cauliflower, zucchini and red bell pepper in a little vegetable oil. Add about ½ container of Red Lentil Dahl to stir fry, or enough to create a sauce, and ½ teaspoon of honey. The honey and curry mingle deliciously! Pair with Syrah.

Red Lentil Dahl with Ground Lamb

In a large skillet, brown ½ lb of ground lamb and mix in one container of Red Lentil Dahl. Add ¼ tsp each of cumin and turmeric, and salt to taste. Top each serving with a tablespoon of plain yogurt. Rich and savory! Pair with Pinot Noir.

Red Lentil Dahl with Rice and Spinach

Combine lentils and rice for a dish that packs a nutrient punch! Simply add 1 cup of cooked rice to one container of Red Lentil Dahl in a saucepan, and heat to desired temperature. Then mix in 1 cup of chopped spinach and finish with a sprinkle of cilantro and a quick squeeze of lemon juice. Pair with Pinot Gris.

Red Lentil Dahl with Rice

Heat the Red Lentil Dahl to desired temperature and then pour over cooked basmati rice. Top with smoked tofu, for a vegan dish rich in protein, or chopped rotisserie chicken for a delicious and warming meal. For an authentic side, look for naan at your local grocery store. A minute or two in a hot toaster oven gives the naan bread a fresh-baked warmth and softness. Pair with a fruity Rhone.

The Red Lentil Dahl is my hands-down favorite. Can you make it in a bigger container?
