Suppliers & Sustainability

Boulder Soup Works aims to be as sustainable as possible in all facets of our business.

Whether it's using organic ingredients and herbs, reusable and recyclable packaging, or the way we treat our employees and suppliers, we strive to do right by our planet and our customers. We are creating a responsible company and building something we hope will truly make a difference.

We deeply believe that organic food is better for our bodies and our planet. Boulder Soup Works is committed to sourcing the highest quality organic ingredients for all of our soup. Learn more about organic foods at www.organicconsumers.org or www.ota.com.

Gluten-Free

Many people have a variety of dietary preferences and constraints, so all of our soup is gluten-free, with vegan, vegetarian and dairy-free options.

Gluten is a protein found in wheat, barley and rye and is often used as a food additive in the form of a flavoring, stabilizing or thickening agent. Millions of Americans who consume this protein suffer from either gluten-intolerance or an autoimmune digestive disease, called Celiac disease. One in every 133 Americans suffers from this disease, but only around 5% of this population of 3 million has been accurately diagnosed. For more information on Celiac disease, please visit: http://www.celiaccentral.org

Organic Chickens

We put a lot thought into every ingredient in our soup. Because some of our varieties contain chicken base, we require this base to be created from chickens that are Certified Humane® and organic. This means our chickens have been raised humanely while eating organic vegetarian meals in a free-range living environment.

Organic Vegetables

Boulder Soup Works is proud to use fresh local ingredients, whenever possible. We believe in farm-to-table practices and we support small farms because it translates into less waste and energy being used for transportation and storage. Even better, locally based agriculture promotes more family farming and strengthens the bond between food, health and local economies.

Reusable Packaging

Our soup containers are reusable and fully recyclable. (We use them to store leftovers at home!) They are made with #5 Polypropylene, which is a non-leaching, non-BPA, non-Phthalate containing plastic. Using #5PP allows us to have much thinner, lighter walls – resulting in less plastic and lower energy consumption for transportation.

To learn more about the safety of #5PP, please visit: www.preserveproducts.com/media/preserve-plastic-statement.pdf.

Notwithstanding these benefits, we recognize that that all plastics have environmental impacts stemming from how they are produced, and we are constantly evaluating packaging alternatives.

Sustainability

Anyone who has made soup knows that a lot of waste is created from preparing vegetables and herbs, and more is generated from the disposal of their packaging. To help minimize our footprint, we compost all of our organic waste and we recycle all of our packaging through Eco-Cycle, a local company dedicated to building zero-waste communities.
