We love soup.

At Boulder Soup Works, our Mission is to craft fresh, delicious and nourishing soup using only the highest quality organic ingredients and spices.

We combine hand-cut vegetables with fragrant herbs and custom bases, just like you would if you had time to make soup at home. We make it by hand and keep it fresh until served.

It tastes the way soup is meant to taste. Fresh. Delicious. Wholesome.

Kick the can! Eat fresh soup.

We believe that in the rush to commercialize and package soup something has been lost.

How have we come so far from the fresh, handcrafted nature of soup, only to expect that soup should be canned or boxed to sit for years?  Do you know canned soup is partially cooked in its steel or aluminum can before it sits on a shelf indefinitely? Yuck!

So we’re on a mission to bring back real soup.

Armed with our soupy passion and wooden spoons, we make our fresh soup by hand using local, organic ingredients and savory spices. We don’t add preservatives or artificial ingredients, and we actually use sea salt as a seasoning- not as a preservative.

We also know that organic food is better for you and for our planet, so our soup is always organic. We know that using fresh local ingredients, whenever possible, is simply the right thing to do, and so we do that as well. And because we know that people have a variety of dietary preferences and constraints, our soup is naturally gluten-free with vegan, vegetarian, and dairy-free options.

The result is scrumptious soup that remains deliciously nourishing all the way to your bowl.

Ours is truly Soup to Live By®.

  • FAQ's

  • Are the plastic containers used for your tubs safe for food packaging?

Yes. They are made with #5 Polypropylene, which is a non-leaching, non-BPA, non-Phthalate containing plastic. To learn more about this plastic, please visit our Packaging page.

  • What is Certified Humane Organic Chicken Base?

Aside from being a mouth-full to say, this certification means the chickens used to produce our soup base are fed an organic, all-vegetarian diet while living in a free-range environment. Basically, they’re happier, healthier chickens!

  • Does the soup contain any allergens?

All of our soups are crafted in a dedicated facility free from wheat, gluten, peanuts, eggs, soy, fish, shellfish, and sesame.  Two varieties, Carrot Coconut with Ginger and Red Lentil Dahl, contain coconut milk, which is a tree nut.  Additionally three of our soups, Roasted Tomato Basil, Potato Leek and White Bean with Tomato, contain dairy products and casein.  Per FDA guidelines, we do not call out allergens, as they are listed in the ingredients.  Please visit the Products page for a complete list of ingredients for each variety.

  • Do you offer vegan or vegetarian varieties?

Yes. Over half of our varieties are vegan or vegetarian. Please visit our Products page to learn more about these options.

  • Can I freeze the soup to prolong its shelf life?

While we never freeze our fresh soup, you can place unopened tubs in your freezer for up to six months.

  • What are the sodium levels in the soup?

Most of our soup varieties average 400-600mg per serving. The 2010 Dietary Guidelines for Americans recommends limiting sodium to less than 2,300 mg a day — or 1,500 mg if you’re age 51 or older. Other companies use salt as a preservative, which is why most canned soup has very high sodium levels. We use natural sea salt in moderation as a spice.

  • Do you use preservatives?

No. We never use preservatives, artificial ingredients or fillers.

  • Why is fresh soup better than canned soup?

Fresh soup simply tastes better and is often healthier than sodium-loaded canned soup. Canned soup can be several years old by the time you eat it, but our fresh soup is intended to be eaten within a few weeks of purchase.

  • Where can I find the soup in my local grocery store?

At most grocery stores, our soup is available in the prepared foods isle or the deli where other fresh products are sold.

  • Does the soup need to be refrigerated?

Yes. Our soup is prepared and stored fresh for maximum flavor and nutrition!

  • Is all of your soup certified organic?

Yes. All of our soup is certified organic by Oregon Tilth!

  • Is all of your soup gluten-free?

Yes. All of our soup is certified gluten-free by the GFCO!
